ATAC tickets and airport connections in Rome in 2026

Leonardo Express: Fiumicino ↔ Termini

The Leonardo Express connects Fiumicino to Roma Termini with no intermediate stops. It’s the simplest solution if you then take Metro A towards Ottaviano/Prati.

• Duration: ~32 minutes
• Price: check the current amount on Trenitalia (typically €14–18 each way)
• Tickets: online, app, machines and ticket office at the station

FL1 regional train

The FL1 connects Fiumicino to Trastevere, Ostiense, Tuscolana and Tiburtina. It costs less than the Leonardo but the route to the centre is longer: it’s worth it if your accommodation is better served by these stations.

Taxi: flat airport–centre fare

From Fiumicino to the historic centre (Aurelian Walls) a regulated flat fare applies. Recognise the official taxi: white, meter, municipal logo. Take it at the arrivals exit in the dedicated area, never from touts.

Ciampino: bus to Rome

From Ciampino several bus companies operate to Termini (Terravision, SIT and others). Check the price, stop and duration on the operator’s website: they vary seasonally.

Which to choose

• Leonardo Express: fast and direct to Termini, medium-high cost
• FL1: cheap, great if you stay near Ostiense/Tiburtina
• Flat-fare taxi: maximum door-to-door comfort, ideal if you land late with luggage
• Ciampino bus: cheap, good if you have little luggage

From Fiumicino to the Prati district

Typical route: Leonardo Express to Termini, then Metro A direction Battistini, get off at Ottaviano–San Pietro. From here Prati and the Vatican are a few minutes’ walk away. A tip: always validate your ATAC tickets before getting on buses and trams. If you land late, the flat-fare taxi can be worth the price. Cut down on travel by choosing where to stay near the Vatican.
