I’m Paola, host in Prati. Visiting the Colosseo in the evening changes everything: different lights, less heat and a theatrical atmosphere. The evening openings aren’t available all year — they usually fall within spring and summer windows (April–October), with a calendar to be checked each season on coopculture.it.
When they’re scheduled in 2026
Historically the evening entries start in high season. For spring 2026 the typical window is April–June, extending into the summer. Dates and times must always be confirmed on the official portal of the Archaeological Park: I don’t replace the published calendar here.
Evening ticket vs daytime
The evening ticket usually involves limited routes or areas (e.g. the arena floor or guided itineraries), whereas the classic daytime ticket also includes the Roman Forum and Palatine on the same day. The cost varies between a self-guided and a guided visit.
- Daytime: natural light, easy connection with the Forum and Palatine
- Evening: an evocative atmosphere, lower temperatures in summer, a sometimes more limited but very iconic route

- Go to coopculture.it and select the Colosseo site
- Filter by date and look for the evening slots if available
- Choose the ticket type (standard, reduced, guided tour)
- Complete the payment and keep the QR code on your phone
- Show up early: the security checks take time

How to get back to Prati after the evening visit
From the Colosseo area take Metro B (Colosseo stop) to Termini, then Line A towards Ottaviano to get back to Prati and the Vatican. Check the time of the last train on the ATAC channels: if you finish very late, consider an official taxi. To dine afterwards, the Celio and Testaccio areas have historic trattorias less touristy than the centre.
